The 5th Peugeot Design Competition, launched at the Beijing Motor Show on 20 April 2008, entered its second phase on 20 July 2008, the final date for the submission of projects.

The 5th Peugeot Design Competition, launched at the Beijing Motor Show on 20 April 2008, entered its second phase on 20 July 2008, the final date for the submission of projects.

It’s now time to let amateur designers and motoring enthusiasts have their say as they help to nominate the successor to the Flux project, the last winner of this prestigious contest.

For this competition, Peugeot invited young designers to imagine the Peugeot of the metropolises of tomorrow. This concept car should be designed to be driven in the large urban cities of the future, while exhibiting key values of the 21st century. Projects, while conveying Peugeot’s stylistic qualities, must incorporate four criteria specific to this design competition: environmental friendliness, social harmony, interactive mobility and economic efficiency.

With 2500 projects and a presence that’s as international as ever, with participants from more than 95 different nations, the Peugeot Design Competition, running over a shorter time scale (only 1? months to develop and submit a project), has given designers from all over the world an opportunity to express themselves and propose projects rich in style and innovation.

Indeed, the theme of this 5th edition has inspired all of these creative people to give shape to their vision of the motor car in cities of the future and to envisage a form of urban mobility that’s more versatile, more practical, more economic, but also more fun and more individual.

The 30 projects you are about to discover also reflect the different cultures of our global society. From the simplicity of the Indian “Globe” project to the complexity of the German “Rugir” project, you’ll be able to admire the practicality of the Chinese “Oxo” project.

From 15 August 2008, Internet users will be able to log on to Peugeot’s corporate site, www.peugeot.com to discover all of the 30 projects selected for this 5th edition of the Design Competition.

For one month, they will be able to look at these concept cars and take part in a game to try and find this year’s winner. Each Internet user will be entitled to one vote to become eligible for the prize draw and the chance to win one of the 20 XBOX 360 consoles available as prizes on this occasion. (Rules available from www.peugeot.com, section Design Competition/5th edition).
